Forget delayed parcels and “sorry we missed you” cards. This postman has a rather bigger problem: his deliveries have to travel across time and space.
The Time Travel Postman is gloriously silly, wonderfully inventive and, most importantly, very funny. Sevrin Willinder is hilarious as The Postman, creating a character bursting with personality without uttering a single word. Through physical comedy, facial expressions and impeccable comic timing, he makes the Postman instantly loveable — and completely impossible not to root for. It is a complete masterclass in clowning.
The concept is ridiculous in exactly the right way. A galaxy-spanning postal route sounds absurd, yet there is just enough realism to make you wonder whether Royal Mail might actually benefit from this Postman’s sheer tenacity and determination to deliver. Perhaps this is the solution to those missing parcels after all.
But the real magic comes from the audience interaction. From the outset, we are pulled into the adventure, and the participation feels integral to the show rather than simply a gimmick. There are plenty of laughs, plenty of unexpected moments and a wonderful sense that the audience is genuinely helping to keep this bizarre postal operation on track.
And beneath all the silliness is a surprisingly lovely message about human connection and embracing the unexpected.
Joyful, inventive and completely bonkers, The Time Travel Postman is a little parcel of Fringe fun that is very much worth opening.
